Dorothy H. (Hoffman) Zimmerman

Dorothy H. Zimmerman, 93, of Chambersburg, passed away on Monday, July 25, 2022 at SpiriTrust Lutheran The Village at Luther Ridge. Born August 29, 1928 in Greencastle, she was the daughter of the late Roy E. and Leila Renner Hoffman.

Dorothy was employed as a presser at the Stanley Company in Chambersburg until her retirement in 1978. She was also employed at Potter’s Restaurant. She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greencastle, the Order of the Eastern Star in McConnellsburg, and the Frank L. Carbaugh Post 373 American Legion in Greencastle. She enjoyed golfing, going to plays at Totem Pole Playhouse, supporting local theater, traveling and knitting.

She is survived by her son, Thomas A. Bitner of Marlboro, CT; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Dorothy is preceded in death by her first husband, Russell Bitner; her second husband Seibert Zimmerman; and five siblings, Elmer Hoffman, Charles David Hoffman, Mary Hoffman Shaffer, Ethel Hoffman Meyers and Edith Hoffman Kitzmiller.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 29, 2022 at the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA 17225. Rev. Martin Horn will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Brown’s Mill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
