Dorothy Louise (Woods) Snider, age 93 a resident of Menno-Haven, Chambersburg, PA and formerly of St. Thomas, PA died at 8:45 P.M. on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 in the nursing home.
Born December 1, 1916 in Chambersburg, PA she was the daughter of the late Victor S. and Lula A. (Kriner) Woods.
She and her husband, Lester "Pinky" Snider were married on June 20, 1941 in the Fetterhoff Chapel near Chambersburg, PA. He died on December 15, 2003.
Mrs. Snider was a member of the St. Thomas United Methodist Church where she was a member and past president of the United Methodist Women and past chair of the pastor-parish relations committee. She was a member of the Martha Custis Chapter of the Eastern Star.
She retired in 1978 after 15 years of employment with the former Corning Glass in Greencastle, PA. She and her husband operated the former Sniders Grocery Store in Stoufferstown near Chambersburg. In her earlier years she worked at the former Hansen Hosiery Mill and Heinz Company both of Chambersburg. She was a 1935 graduate of the Chambersburg High School.
Surviving family are, one son, Rev. Dr. Marlin L. Snider of Mechanicsburg, PA; one daughter, Darlene B. Hamlin of Lawrenceville, GA; one brother Glenn Woods; two sisters, Lois Thompson and Pauline Levick; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a step-mother Edna Campbell Woods and a brother Warren Woods.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 8, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. from the St. Thomas United Methodist Church, 360 St. Thomas-Edenville Rd., St. Thomas, PA with Rev. Paul Crawford Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the Montgomery Brethren In Christ Church Cemetery, Mercersburg, PA. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1 to 3 P.M. at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA and one hour before the service at the church on Monday.
