Dorothy Jean (Channing) Schroyer, age 77 of 3643 Hill Rd., Greencastle, PA, died at 5:15 A.M. Monday, August 24, 2009 in her home.
Born January 3, 1932 in Wintersville, Ohio, she was the daughter of Mary (Daley) Channing of Waynesboro, PA. and the late Lester Channing.
She and her husband Carl W. Schroyer were married on October 6, 1947 in Cumberland, Md. Dorothy was a member of the Greencastle-Antrim Homemakers and was active member of the Greencastle Senior Center. She enjoyed flower gardening, being with her grandchildren and was an avid GA Blue Devils fan.
Surviving family in addition to her mother and husband are three daughters, Carol (Husband Charles) Lowe, Smithsburg, Md., Beverly (Husband Gary) Meadows, Waynesboro, Pa., Missy (Husband Joe) Hewitt, Falling Waters W.Va.,, three sons, Michael D. Schroyer, Greencastle, John (Wife Robin) Schroyer, Waynesboro, Pa., Tim Schroyer, Carlisle, Pa., five grandchildren Andrea, Adam, Ryan, Kelsey, Becca, three brothers Glenn, Charles and Richard Channing, five sisters, Delores Richardson, Marjorie Rugg, Janice Miller, Sandra Edelman and Donna Moatz.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 29 at 11:00 A.M. from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with her nephew David Channing officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 7 - 9 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in her name to the Lutheran Home Care And Hospice 2700 Luther Dr. Chambersburg, Pa. 17202.
