Dorothy L. Thompson Statler

Dorothy L. Thompson Statler, age 78 of 188 Baumgardner Court Greencastle, Pa. died unexpectedly at 8:45 P.M. Saturday, October 31, 2009 in the Waynesboro Hospital.

Born November 22, 1930 in Greencastle, Pa., she was the daughter of the late George Jacob and Mary (Hull) Thompson.

She had retired from Corning Glass of Greencastle and in her earlier years had worked at the New House Restaurant in Mercersburg and Hennessy Products of Chambersburg.

Dorothy attended the Calvary Bible Church of Greencastle. She was a graduate of the former Lemasters High School. She enjoyed cooking and working with her flowers.

She and her husband, Charles H. Statler were married in December 1998. She was the last of her immediate family

Surviving in addition to her husband are several nieces and nephews and seven step-children.

She was preceded in death by sisters Helen Williams, Nellie Angle, Kathryn Stouffer, Miriam Rife, infant sister May Elizabeth Thompson, and brothers Lloyd Thompson, William Thompson and John Thompson.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday November 4 at 2:00 P.M. from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with the Rev. Melvin VanOrman officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service on Wednesday.
