Dorothy G. (Rice) Angle

Mrs. Dorothy G (Rice) Angle, 95 of Menno Haven, Chambersburg, PA went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday July 31, 2023. She was born December 8, 1927, in Waynesboro, PA.  She is the daughter of the late Willis M. and the late Ivy P. (Hartman) Rice. She has been a resident of Menno Haven for the past 22 years.

Mrs. Angle was a 1946 graduate of the former Washington Township High School. She married the late Roy C. Angle, Sr., April 9, 1949, at Prices Church of the Brethren. They had a farm on Hades Church Road in Shady Grove, PA, and then moved to Stull Road, Shady Grove, PA in 1962.

She was a member of Prices Church of the Brethren, Hollowell Brethren In Christ Church, and Waynesboro Grace Brethren Church.

Dorothy was a piano player and taught lessons to the neighborhood children. She was also a master scrabble player, loved playing dominos, and solving puzzles. She knitted items for home décor and clothing for children in orphanages. Dorothy also enjoyed quilting, embroidery, crocheting, tending flowers & gardening, and preserving foods. She was an avid reader, especially books on theology. Dorothy always enjoyed family gatherings with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by two children, Roy C. Angle Jr. (wife Holly) and LaVonne M. (Angle) Young (husband Joe), a son-in-law, Alan E. Oliver; one brother, D. Paul Rice (wife Gloria); 7 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Roy C. Angle, Sr., her daughter, Janice (Angle) Oliver, 6 sisters: Catherine Rice, Anna (Rice) Myers, Lois (Rice) Sollenberger, Thelma (Rice) Plum, Gladys (Rice) Esh, and Edna Rice and 3 brothers; W. Hartman Rice, J. Fred Rice, and C. Burnell Rice.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at 12:30 PM in Antietam Cemetery, Waynesboro, PA, where Pastor Roger Myers will officiate. A Memorial service will follow the interment at 1 PM at Trinity Brethren Fellowship Church, 10610 Wayne Hwy, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Arrangements are entrusted to the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., Greencastle, PA. Memorial contributions may be made in Dorothy's name to, Waynesboro Grace Church at 250 Philadelphia Avenue Waynesboro, PA 17268.
