Dorotha M. (Shaffer) Brant, age 94, a resident for the past six years of the Orrstown Personal Care Home in Orrstown, PA and formerly of Chambersburg, died Monday evening August 17, 2015 in the Penn State Hershey Medical Center.
Born October 19, 1920 in St. Thomas Township, Franklin Co, PA, she was the daughter of the late W. Roy and A. Grace (Kriner) Shaffer. She married Rev. J. Raymond Brant on March 15, 1941. He died on June 9, 1997.
Her lifetime work was assisting her husband in his church ministry and pastoring. She volunteered many hours at the former Piney Mountain Home near Fayetteville where her husband served as chaplain. Dorotha was a member of the St. James United Brethren In Christ Church near Chambersburg.
Surviving family are two daughters Evelyn L. Starliper and husband Harold of Chambersburg, Gladys E. Erdmann and husband David of Arvada, CO, one son, Leslie W. Brant and wife Cynthia of York, PA, six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one sister Mary Wantz of Westminister, MD.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant sister Martha, a sister Marie Brindle and two brothers William and Ray Shaffer.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday August 22 at 11:00 AM from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Pastor Lester Stine officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service on Saturday.
