Doris Mae (Secrest) Mellott, age 77 of 6512 Lemar Rd. Mercersburg, Pa. died at 1:12 P.M. Wednesday February 20, 2008 in her home.

Born December 15, 1930 in Waynesboro, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Helen J. (Springer) Secrest.

She was a homemaker and helped her husband on the family farm. Mrs. Mellott was a member of the St. Stephens Lutheran Church of Upton, where she also was a member of the Lutheran Church Women. She also was a member of the Farm Womens Group #6 and in her earlier years was active in the 4 H Club and F.F.A. program. Mrs. Mellott was a 1949 graduate of Mercersburg High School.

She and her husband, Robert Mellott, a resident of the Quincy Retirement Home, were married November 20, 1949 are in Blain, Pa.


Surviving family in addition to her husband are:

Two Daughters, Cynthia (Wife Of Charles) Goetz, and Bonnie Helman, both of Mercersburg, Pa.

Two Sons, James R. (Husband of Sherrie) Mellott and John M. Mellott, both of Mercersburg, Pa.

One Brother, Richard F. Secrest, Mercersburg, Pa.

Seven Grandchildren, Christopher Goetz, Stacy (Goetz) Andersen, Corey Mellott, Emme (Mellott) Rickabaugh, Doug Helman Jr., Robert Helman and LeAnn (Helman) Torres and Six Great-Grandchildren, Justin, Andrew, Timothy, Luke, Camden and Caleb Helman.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday February 23 at 11:00 A.M. from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Rev. Alan R. Wilson and Rev. John Mullen officiating. Burial will be in the Welsh Run Church Of The Brethren Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 7 - 9 P.M. and one hour before the service on Saturday. Memorial contribution may be given in her memory to the St Stephens Lutheran Church 8835 Lemar Rd. Greencastle, Pa. 17225 or to Hospice Of The Good Shepherd 2700 Luther Dr. Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.
