Doris Aileen (Garland) Johns, age 72 of Chambersburg, PA died at 1:30 PM Sunday, December 7, 2014 at ManorCare Health Services of Chambersburg where she had been a resident for the past several years.
Born September 2, 1942 near Warfordsburg, Fulton County, PA, she was the daughter of the late Mulford and Maudaleen (Hollenshead) Garland. She met the love of her life Merle Eugene “Gene” Johns in 1998 and they got married on June 5, 1999.
She attended Southern Fulton High School. Doris worked at the former Valley National Restaurant in Hancock, MD; she worked at Valley View Nursing Home in Berkeley Springs, WV and for many years worked as an In Home Care Provider in Fulton County.
Surviving family in addition to her husband Gene are one brother Robert F. Garland and his wife Bonnie of Warfordsburg, PA and one niece Jill Maisuradze of Chambersburg.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 12 at 11:00 AM from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle, PA with Rev. Floyd E. Myers officiating. Burial will be in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6 – 8 PM.
