Doris Jean Dreyer

Doris Jean Dreyer, age 80 of 450 Colonial Dr. Greencastle, Pa. died unexpectedly early Tuesday morning April 22, 2008 in her home.

Born October 1, 1927 in Bedford Valley, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Henry Lloyd and Gladys Elizabeth (Cross) Zembower. She was a homemaker and in her earlier life she had worked in Bedford as a telephone operator and in the McCroys Store in Cumberland, Md.

Mrs. Dreyer was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Greencastle where she had served on the church council and was a member of the Lutheran Church Women. She was a former member of the Bedford Valley Methodist Church and was a 1946 graduate of Bedford High School.
Mrs. Dreyer was also a member of the Greencastle Senior Womens Club.

She and her husband, Eugene "Gene" R. Dreyer were married May 15, 1948 in Cumberland, Md. He died on March 17, 1996. She enjoyed crocheting, ceramics, reading and writing poetry.

Surviving family are one daughter, Susan B. (Dreyer) Murray of Greencastle, Pa., a son, Larry E. Dreyer of Chambersburg, Pa. and six granchildren and one step-grandson.

She was preceded in death by a daughter Joyce A. Wyckoff on February 10, 2008 and by two brothers James Zembower and Carl Zembower and a sister Zena Bennett.

Funeral services will be held on Friday April 25 at 10:30 A.M. from the Trinity Lutheran Church 1186 Jason Dr. Greencastle, Pa. with Rev. William DeHass officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park in Cumberland Md. The family will receive friends at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle on Thursday evening from 7 - 9 P.M.
