Doris J. "Dorie" Barnhart, age 82 of 61 Wilhelm St. Greencastle, PA died at 8:15 P.M. Friday, January 13, 2012 in her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born May 19, 1927 in Greencastle, PA, she was the daughter of the late Seibert and Lucy (Deck) Myers.
She married Blaine K. Barnhart on September 28, 1946 in Hagerstown, MD.
Dorie worked at the former Wogan''s Drug Store now Rite Aid in Greencastle. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Greencastle, a former auxiliary member of the Rescue Hose Co. # 1, Greencastle Sportsman Association and Harry D. Zeigler V.F.W. Post #6319 of Greencastle.
Dorie served on the local election board, enjoyed playing cards, square dancing with the Whirley Birds Square Dance Club in her younger years and spending time with her family. She attended Greencastle High School and was a member of the Greencastle-Antrim Loyal Daughters.
Surviving family in addition to her husband are one daughter Cindy (husband Greg) Oberholzer, Greencastle, two sons, Douglas (wife Valerie) Barnhart, Greencastle, Timothy (wife Kim) Barnhart, Chambersburg, eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one sister Jane Beaver, Greencastle and one brother Donald E. Myers, Greencastle.
She was preceded in death by two sisters Isabel Cunningham, Anna Snoke and three brothers George Myers, Robert Myers and Ray Myers.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday January 18 at 11:00 A.M. from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Pastor Stacy Crawford officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6 - 8 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in her memory to the Lutheran Home Care and Hospice 2700 Luther Dr. Chambersburg, PA 17202 or to the First United Methodist Church 45 North Washington St. Greencastle, PA 17225.
