Donnella Jean Strite, age 63 of Old Forge Rd. Hagerstown, MD died at 4:21 A.M. Sunday January 6, 2013 in her home. She had been in declining health for the past two years.
Born January 30, 1949 in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Donnel Eugene and Anna Mary (Collins) Gift.
She and her husband Stephen C. Strite were married September 14, 1968 in Smithsburg, MD.
Donnella was a school bus driver for Shalom Christian Academy of Chambersburg for 30 years. She was a member of the Shanks Church of The Brethren near Greencastle and was a graduate of Smithsburg High School. She enjoyed being with her family and grandchildren.
Surviving family in addition to her husband are two sons John K. (wife Cherie) Strite, Smithsburg, MD, Seth D. (wife Laura) Strite, Ringgold, MD, four grandchildren, Jacob, Grace, Sarah, Samuel, four sisters, Janet Kline, Sharpsburg, MD, Joanne Brant, and Nancy Rice both of Greencastle, Ruth Lorenz, Baltimore, MD and one brother Les Gift, Greencastle.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday January 10 at 10:30 A.M. from the Shanks Church of The Brethren Greencastle with Ministers John Shelly, David Stahl and Nelson Witmer officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle on Wednesday evening from 6 - 8 P.M. and at the church one hour before the service on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in her memory to Washington County Hospice 747 Northern Ave. Hagerstown, MD 21740 or to Shanks Church of The Brethren Missions Fund C/O Dale Watkins Treasurer 1904 Bell Ave. Chambersburg, PA 17202.
