Donna Lee (Jones) DeShong, age 67, of Grindstone Hill Road Chambersburg, PA passed away at 6:45 PM Friday, April 11, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born July 19, 1946 in Waynesboro, PA she was the daughter of LaRue (Sheffler) Jones of Chambersburg and the late Fred Jones Jr. She married Roger L. DeShong on May 24, 1966 in Chambersburg.
Donna was employed 18 years in the deli of Giant Foods, Chambersburg. In her earlier years she attended Solomon’s Evangelical Lutheran Church near Chambersburg. She enjoyed reading, cooking and crocheting. Donna graduated from Greencastle-Antrim High School in 1964.
Surviving family in addition to her husband are one son Roger L. DeShong II and wife Michelle of Chambersburg, two grandsons, Bailey DeShong and Braylen DeShong, both of Chambersburg, three sisters, Jennifer Merrichew of Colorado, Pam Buckheit and Kim Barnhart, both of Chambersburg and number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday April 16 at 11:00 AM from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle, PA with Rev. David Rawley officiating. Burial will be in the Grindstone Hill Cemetery near Chambersburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6 – 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society Relay For Life, Team Skip’s Angels, C/O Roger DeShong, 6761 Grindstone Hill Rd. Chambersburg, PA 17202.
