Donald Richard King of Distant View Ave. - P.O. Box 395 Maugansville, MD. went to meet his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 17, 2009.
He was born January 4, 1929 in Hagerstown, MD., he was the son of the late George and Cora (Smith) King. He worked at the Hagerstown Rubber Company and was self-employed as a plasterer for many years before going to work at Mack Trucks, Inc. in 1963. He and his wife owned and operated King''s Ceramics in Hagerstown for over 30 years.
He has been a charter member of Maugansville Bible Brethren Church of Maugansville for 26 years.
He is a survived by his daughter, Barbara Ann Baker, wife of Kenneth R. Baker of Maugansville, MD, and has lived with them for the past 2 years.
He is also survived by two granddaughters, Jennifer Miller, wife of Mac Miller, of Needmore, PA. and Allison Boyer also of Maugansville, MD.
He also has three great-grandchildren, Jake Quigley, Noah Hykes and Zoe Boyer.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Maggielien (Maggie) King; daughter, Diann Marie King; great-grandson, Daniel Hykes; two sisters, Alice Martin and Edith Stine; and three brothers, Kenneth King, Alfred King and Robert King.
He was a patient with Hospice of Washington County since March 2008.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Most of all, Donald was an earnest follower of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a shining example of Christianity to all who were honored to know him.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday January 21 at 11:00 A.M. from the Maugansville Bible Brethren Church 17904 Binkley Ave. Maugansville with Pastor Sean Coffey officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday evening from 7 - 9 P.M. and one hour before the service on Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be given in his memory to Hospice Of Washington county 747 Northern Ave. Hagerstown, Md. 21740 or to the building fund of Maugansville Bible Brethren Church 1904 Binkley Ave. Maugansville, Md. 21767.
