Donald E. "Don" Cordell, age 81 a resident of the Health Care Center at Cross Keys Village - The Brethren Home Community in New Oxford, Pa. and formerly of 15 Regency Circle Gettysburg, Pa. died at 5:10 P.M. Friday February 15, 2008 in the health care center.
Born January 27, 1927 in Kauffman, Franklin County, Pa., he was the son of the late Harry C. and Anna (Goetz) Cordell.

Don was sales manager of petroleum equipment for the Northeast Regional Area of the Fill-Rite Division of Tuthill Corporation of Ft. Wayne Indiana. He also was a former funeral director having worked in Philadelphia and Gettysburg.
Don was a member of the Lower Marsh Creek Presbyterian Church near Gettysburg where he served as an elder and on the home ministry team. He was a 1944 graduate of Greencastle High School and 1949 graduate of the former Eckels College of Mortuary Science in Philadelphia.

Don also served on the Board of Trustees of the Eisenhower Historical Society and was a former member of the Fairfield and Gettysburg Lions Clubs. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He and his wife, Virginia M. "Ginny" (Martin) Cordell were married January 30, 1948. She died on July 1, 1998.
Surviving family are:

Three Daughters, Donna Ruth Genoese of York, Pa., Diane Lynne Cordell of Berlin, N.J. and Holly C. Martin of Gettysburg, Pa.

Companion, Joan Bryce of Gettysburg, Pa.

Four Grandchildren, Erminio E. Genoese, Antonino D. Genoese, David S. Martin and Elizabeth N. Martin.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters Betty Cordell and Vivian Hollinger.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday March 1 at 11:00 A.M. from the Lower Marsh Creek Presbyterian Church 1865 Knoxlyn Rd. Gettysburg, Pa. with Rev. Dale Williams officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the Lower Marsh Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery near Gettysburg. There will be no public viewing. The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions be made in his memory to the cemetery restoration fund of the Lower Marsh Creek Presbyterian Church 1865 Knoxlyn Rd.
