Dolores I. (Shindle) Stahl, age 83 of Steele Ave. Lemasters, PA and a resident of Menno Haven Chambersburg for nearly two years died at 7:07 AM Thursday, December 11, 2014 in the Chambersburg Hospital. She had been in declining health the past several years.
Born March 19, 1931 in Antrim Township, Franklin County, PA, she was the daughter of the late Clinton and Ada (Snyder) Shindle. She married Marvin G. “Dean” Stahl on February 9, 1952.
Dolores in her earlier life worked at the former GEM Garment in Greencastle. She did wall papering of many local homes and helped her husband with the operation of the family dairy farm.
Dolores attended the Shanks Church Of The Brethren near Greencastle and in her younger years she played the piano at Ebenezer “Guitners” United Brethren Church also of Greencastle.
Surviving family in addition to her husband of more than 62 years are one son Clinton O. Stahl and wife Eva of Mercersburg, three daughters, Ada Ruth Byers and her husband Timothy of Myerstown, PA, Anna Mary Kennedy and husband Philip of Mercersburg, Ida Mae Wingert of Mercersburg, seventeen grandchildren and thirty-two great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant grandson, three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will held on Tuesday December 16 at 10:00 AM from the Shanks Church Of The Brethren near Greencastle with Ministers John Shelly and David Stahl officiating. Burial will be in the Upton Church Of The Brethren Cemetery, Upton, PA. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6 – 8 PM at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle and at the church one hour before the service on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in her memory for the women’s work of Shanks Church Of The Brethren 7535 Talhelm Rd. Chambersburg, PA 17202.
