Dolores R. (Sprankle) Mummert, age 70 of Greencastle, PA went to heaven at 1:05 PM Tuesday, October 21, 2014 in the Chambersburg Hospital following an extended illness.
Born June 10, 1944 in Waynesboro, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Pauline (Stouder) Sprankle. She married Terry E. Mummert on February 14, 1966.
Dolores was employed as an executive secretary at Grove Worldwide in Shady Grove for 45 years. She was a member of St. Mark’s the Evangelist Catholic Church of Greencastle. She was a 1962 graduate of Waynesboro Area Senior High School.
Dolores was a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America and her interests included spending time with her grandchildren and many friends, reading, flowers and going for walks.
Surviving family in addition to her husband are one daughter Shelby Alexander of Greencastle, one son Travis Mummert and wife Melanie of Mercersburg, son-in-law, John Alexander of Greencastle, grandchildren Jack and Max Alexander, Trey And Macy Mummert, four brothers, Fred Sprankle and wife Lucille of Blue Ridge Summit, PA, Jerry Sprankle and wife Virginia of Hagerstown, MD, Leo Sprankle and wife Mary Jo of Greencastle, Don Sprankle of Rouzerville; two sisters, Esther Ann Hrivnak of West Long Branch, NJ, Helen Eakle and husband Randy of Waynesboro, 17 nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister Dorothy Sprankle.
A memorial graveside service will be held on Saturday October 25 at 11:00 AM from the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Fairfield Road, Fairfield, PA with Father Robert Malagesi, MSSSCC, officiating. There will be no viewing or visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in her memory to the John L. and Cora I. Grove Cancer Center C/O Summit Health 785 Fifth Ave. Suite 1 Chambersburg, PA 17201. Arrangements were handled by the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home of Greencastle.
