David Dean Coblentz, age 64, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 5, 2019, at the Waynesboro Hospital, surrounded by his family. Born November 8, 1954, in Millersburg, OH, he was the son of Ella Beachy Coblentz and the late Paul A. Coblentz.
David worked in the Construction industry for 49 years, mainly as a Superintendent and Project Manager. He was previously employed by Perini Construction and Morgan-Keller Construction, and at the time of his passing, he was employed by Bowman Development Corporation of Williamsport, MD. He was a member of Pond Bank Community Church. David was an avid golfer, had his private pilot’s license for many years, and operated his own concrete and construction business in addition to his full time job. With his extensive building and construction knowledge, he often helped his children with building and remodeling projects. He was dedicated to using his talents and knowledge to help others. His time and generosity was a priceless gift he eagerly gave to many.
David was devoted to his family and is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Valletta Taylor Coblentz, whom he married on June 27, 1975; three children, Christopher Coblentz (wife Jessica) of Waynesboro, PA, Elana Frey (husband Chad) of Chambersburg, PA, and Tanya Stotler (husband Brandon) of Blue Ridge Summit, PA; three grandchildren, Ella Coblentz, Evelyn Frey, and Brinley Stotler; and seven siblings, Anna Ruth Kaufman (husband Mark), Roy, Willis (wife Ruth), Paul, Jr. (wife Mary), Jacob (wife Joann), Philip (wife Elsie), and Sam Coblentz (wife Lori).
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2019, at 10:00 AM at Pond Bank Community Church, 6555 Duffield Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202, where Pastor Jeremy Lehman will officiate. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 9, 2019, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 South Carlisle Street, Greencastle, PA 17225. A private interment will precede the memorial service at 8:00 AM in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Quincy, PA. Memorial contributions may be made to The Hope Center, P.O. Box 685, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
