Dale E. Yoder

Dale E. Yoder, age 52 of 197 Social Island Rd. Chambersburg, Pa. went to be with his Lord and Savior at 6:30 A.M. Saturday December 18, 2010 in his home.

Born January 20, 1958 in Meyersdale, Pa., he was the son of Robert Creed and Miriam Irene (Bender) Yoder of Greencastle.

Dale was the Director of the Intensive Behavior Management Program of The Arc of Washington County in Hagerstown, Md. In his earlier years, he served as a houseparent with the Cedar Ridge Children''s Home in Williamsport, MD.

He graduated in 1976 from Salisbury Elk-Lick High School, received his BA degree in psychology from Cedarville University and his Masters degree in community counseling from Shippensburg University. In 2004 he became a member of the National Board for Certified Counselors. He had also attended Rosedale Bible College in Irwin, OH.

He was an active member of the Antrim Brethren In Christ Church near Chambersburg having served on various committees. Dale had served as pastor at the Mt. Zion Mennonite Church in Boonsboro for 2 years.

Dale was a former board member of the Shalom Christian Academy, former board member of the Franklin Co. Unit of the American Cancer Society, former board member of Camp Andrews and was a member of the board of directors of the Biblical Education Center. He had written several publications and had given numerous presentations in the behavioral management field.

He was an avid reader of his Bible and sang or played his baritone horn in various ensembles over the years. He enjoyed hearing his daughters sing and watching them play various sports and enjoyed announcing the Shalom soccer and basketball games where he was known as the Voice of the Flames.

He and his wife, Sharon L. (Rowe) Yoder were married June 2, 1979 in Mt. Airy, Md.

Surviving family in addition to his parents and wife are three daughters Stefanie (wife of Dennis) Stauffer, Thunder Bay Ontario Canada, Kristi Yoder and Victoria Yoder both at home, two sisters Joy Pressman and Kathy Martin, both of Hagerstown, MD., five brothers Dwight Yoder, Laurel, MD., Geoff Yoder, Alexandria, VA., Lin Yoder and Larry Yoder, both of Greencastle, PA. and Bob Yoder, Goshen IN.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday December 22 at 10:00 A.M. from the Antrim Brethren In Christ Church 24 E. Kauffman Rd. Chambersburg with Rev. Ky R. Searcy officiating. Burial will be in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens Chambersburg. The family will receive friends at the Antrim Brethren In Christ Church on Tuesday from 5 - 8 P.M. and one hour before the service on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dale Yoder Children''s Fund C/O Susquehanna Bank 35 N. Carlisle St. P.O. Box 400 Greencastle, Pa. 17225.
