Clarence V. Witmer, age 85, of Greencastle, PA died Thursday evening May 27, 2021 in his home.

Born May 28, 1935 in Antrim Twp., Franklin County, PA, he was the son of the late Raymond and Mary (Diller) Witmer. He married his wife Betty J. (Stottlemyer) Witmer on June 18, 1955.

Clarence had worked at the former Maugansville Elevator, ran a milk route for Hull’s Dairy, worked as a carpenter at Mack Truck, Hagerstown for 26 years and last was a building contractor. He was a member of the Cedar Grove Mennonite Church of Greencastle where he was a former church elder.

Clarence was a volunteer at the Cumberland Valley Relief Center in Chambersburg and at the Cove Valley Camp near Mercersburg. He served on several mission trips with the Mennonite Disaster Service and served on the Youth for Christ Board. He loved the Lord and his wife and family. A favorite bible verse of his was 3 John 4, "I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth."

Surviving family in addition to his wife are four daughters Sylvia Clement (Sam) of Greencastle, Christine Henry (Randy) of Hagerstown, Marjorie Lehman (Michael) of Lancaster, PA, Vicki Crider (Brent) of Chambersburg; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; one sister Retha Keener of Hagerstown, two brothers, Richard Witmer of Greencastle, Raymond Witmer of West Virginia and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Lonie R. Witmer, a great-grandson, two sisters Dortha Kipe and Mildred Landis and two brothers Nathan Witmer and Kenneth Witmer.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday June 3 at 10:00 AM at the Cedar Grove Mennonite Church 13343 Williamsport Pike Greencastle with Pastors  Gary Zook and Randy Smith officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle on Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and at the church one hour before the service on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Cumberland Valley Relief Center 4225 Molly Pitcher Hwy. Chambersburg, PA 17202.
