Chester R. "Chet" Talhelm, age 86 of Molly Pitcher Hwy. South Chambersburg, PA died unexpectedly at 5:43 A.M. Friday, March 15, 2013 in the Chambersburg Hospital.

Born May 22, 1926 in Antrim Twp. Franklin County, PA, he was the son of the late Roy J. and Leah Gail (Ryder) Talhelm. He married Dorothy L. "Dot" (Daugherty) Talhelm on May 1, 1966.

Chet first worked for the former Miller and Friedley Co. and Myers and Fitz of Greencastle, He retired after over 40 years employment with Antrim Building and Farm Supply of Greencastle. He was a 1944 graduate of Greencastle High School. Chet was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II having served in the Pacific Theatre.

He was a long time member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Greencastle where he had served as a church usher, communion usher and on church council. He was a former member of the Kauffman Ruritan Club.
Chet enjoyed going out for breakfast and watching baseball.

Surviving family in addition to his wife are two sisters Helen L. Statler, Menno Haven, Chambersburg, Marie Myers, Greencastle, one brother Wayne T. Talhelm and wife Shirley, Greencastle and number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother Paul G. Talhelm, sister Janet E. Talhelm and an infant sister Dorothy Jean Talhelm.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday March 20 at 11:00 A.M. from the Evangelical Lutheran Church 130 North Washington St. Greencastle with Rev. Martin H. Horn and Rev. Donald M. Bohn officiating. Burial will be in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 A.M. - 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in his memory to the Memorial Fund of the Evangelical Lutheran Church 130 North Washington St. Greencastle, PA 17225. Arrangements are under the direction of the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home of Greencastle. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.zimmermanfh.com
