Chester W. Meyers, age 84 of Warm Spring Road Greencastle, PA died at 1:08 PM Friday, June 27, 2014 in the Chambersburg Hospital following a brief illness.
Born October 10, 1929 in Peters Township, Franklin County, PA, he was the son of the late Jacob J. and Elizabeth B. (Wenger) Meyers. He married Norma Jean (Myers) Meyers on March 17, 1956.
Chester was a lifelong farmer and a member of the Upton Church of the Brethren near Upton, PA.
Surviving family in addition to his wife are four sons, Larry E. Meyers and wife Grace of St. Thomas, PA, Rodney L. Meyers and wife Glenda, Curtis W. Meyers and wife Colleen, all of Greencastle, PA, James A. Meyers and wife Marilyn of Ephrata, PA, fourteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, three sisters, Elva Conley of St. Thomas, PA, Rhoda Shannon and husband Richard, Martha Rotz and husband Roy, all of Chambersburg, PA
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one great-grandson Timothy Meyers and a brother-in-law Joseph Conley.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday July 2 at 10:00 AM from the Upton Church of the Brethren near Upton, PA with Ministers Nathan Meyers, Dennis Sollenberger and Duane Hawbaker officiating. Burial will be in the Meyers Cemetery near Welsh Run, PA. The family will receive friends at the Upton Church of the Brethren on Tuesday from 2- 4 PM and 6 – 8 PM and one hour before the service on Wednesday. The family requests that flowers be omitted.
