Charles A. Myers Jr.
Charles A. Myers Jr., age 83 of 12276 Gearhart Rd. Greencastle, PA died at 6:13 PM Monday March 5, 2012 in the M.S. Hershey Medical Center following complications from surgery.
Born July 1, 1928 in Antrim Twp. Franklin County, PA, he was the son of the late Charles A. and Martha (Gayman) Myers. He and his wife, Peggy A. (Heefner) Myers were married on June 30, 1951.
Charles retired from the Eagle Construction Co. of Greencastle and in his earlier years he had worked for the former Lanehart Construction Co.
He was a member of the Hollowell Brethren In Christ Church near Waynesboro where he was a member of the Board of Trustees, and was a former Deacon and Sunday School teacher. Charles served on numerous church mission projects and enjoyed gardening and woodworking.
Surviving family in addition to his wife are two daughters Beverly A. (wife of John) Buhrman, Orange, VA, Lois F. Cartmell, Greencastle, three sons, Kenneth E. (husband of Barbara) Myers, Huntingdon, PA, Curtis L. (husband of Lisa) Myers, Frederick, MD, Dwight C. (husband of Susan) Myers, Greencastle, 13 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter, five sisters, Anna C. Helfrick, Marion, PA, Naomi Strite, Sparta, Wisconsin, Dorcas Gearhart, Waynesboro, PA, Esther Kennedy, Chambersburg, Eunice Johnson, Bangor, Maine and one brother Glenn E. Myers, Greencastle.
He was preceded in death by one brother Melvin Myers and three sisters Grace Kennedy, Evelyn Hartman and Mildred Yoder.
Funeral services will be held on Friday March 9 at 10:00 A.M. from the Hollowell Brethren In Christ Church 14807 Hollowell Church Rd. Waynesboro with Pastors Blaine Lougheed and James Sollenberger officiating. Burial will be in the Montgomery Church Cemetery near Mercersburg. The family will receive friends at the Hollowell Brethren In Christ Church on Thursday evening from 5 - 9 P.M. and one hour hour before the service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in his memory to the Brethren In Christ World Missions 431 Grantham Rd.
