Charles A. "Chuck" Johnson, age 81 of 1252 Progress Rd. Chambersburg, Pa. died at 5:07 P.M. Sunday, August 16, 2009 in the Falling Spring Nursing And Rehabilitation Center Chambersburg where he has been a resident for nearly two years.
Born February 9, 1928 in Lumber Twp. Cameron County, Pa., he was the son of the late Mautitz and Evangiline (Coudriet) Johnson.
Mr. Johnson was a self- employed contractor building and remodeling homes. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Charles was a life member of the Chambersburg V.F.W. Post #1599 and a member of the St. Thomas American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, building crafts and playing cards.
He and his wife, Claire "Sue" L. (Bridgens) Johnson were married in 1952 in Lock Haven, Pa.
Surviving family in addition to his wife are twin daughters, Tinna Davis, Greencastle and Tonya Uglow, Chambersburg, daughter, Cathy Gordon, Vicksburg, Mississippi, son, Joe W. Johnson, Chambersburg, sister, Joy Blouser, Ridgway Pa., eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday August 20 at 11:00 A.M. from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Rev. George W. Jones Sr. officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the Chambersburg V.F.W. Post #1599 Honor Guard will be in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens Chambersburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service on Thursday.
