Charles S. Bingaman
Charles S. “Bing” Bingaman, age 81 of Greencastle, PA died unexpectedly Saturday afternoon, October 28, 2017 in the emergency room of the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born December 16, 1935 in State Line, PA, he was the son of the late Roy E. Sr. and Edna P. (Wallech) Bingaman. He married his wife Carolyn V. (Warren) Bingaman on January 20, 1962.
Bing retired from Corning Glass Works of Greencastle and following his retirement he worked at the Greencastle True Value Store.
He was a member of the Otterbein United Brethren Church of Greencastle, member of the Harry D. Zeigler V.F.W. Post #6319 of Greencastle, life member of the Rescue Hose Co. # 1 of Greencastle and a life member of the Greencastle Sportsman’s Association. Bing was a 1955 graduate of Greencastle High School and was a US Army Veteran. His hobbies and interests include fishing, hunting, looking for mushrooms, cooking and especially baseball. In his younger years he played baseball for his high school team, his Army team and other local teams including the Greencastle town baseball team.
Surviving family in addition to his wife are two daughters, Kimberly D. Eshleman and husband Rodney of Greencastle, Wendy K. Hart and husband Thomas of High View, WV, two sons, Timothy E. Bingaman and wife Kelly of Marietta, GA, Barry C. Bingaman and wife Lisa of Springville, AL, thirteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and two more on the way and one brother, Roy Bingaman Jr. and wife Ellen of State Line.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday November 2 at 10:00 AM at the Otterbein United Brethren Church 146 Leitersburg St. Greencastle with Rev. David G. Rawley officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the Chambersburg VFW Honor Guard will be in the Beautiful View Cemetery near State Line. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle and at the church one hour before the service on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in his memory to the Otterbein United Brethren Church 146 Leitersburg St. Greencastle, PA 17225.
