Chalmers L. Brewbaker, age 81, entered into eternal glory with his Savior on Monday, August 2, 2010 at ManorCare Health Services, Chambersburg, PA.

Born in Baltimore, MD on August 2, 1929, he was the son of the late Chalmers Leslie and Henrietta Frances (Schmitt) Brewbaker.

Separated from his wife, the late Christiane Engelhardt Brewbaker in December of 1962 he is survived by his son Clifford A. of Berlin, Germany, one grandson, Collin S. of Berlin, Germany and special cousins. He was preceded in death by an infant brother.

He attended high school at St. John''s Academy in Winfield, Kansas, beginning in 1943 and graduated in 1947. He graduated from the United States Military Academy, West Point, NY in 1953, serving in the United States Army until 1963 as captain.

Spending most of his adult life in Washington, D.C., as a young boy, he enjoyed spending summers at his aunt and uncle''s farm in Greencastle. In D.C. he attended Christ Lutheran Church and served as sexton for five years. Prior to retirement in 1994, he worked as a plumber. He moved to Greencastle in 1995.

Mr. Brewbaker enjoyed reading novels and taking walks around town.

A member of Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greencastle, he served as Christian Ed. Committee Chair, past member of church council and Sunday School teacher for the Men and Women''s Bible Class.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. from the Evangelical Lutheran Church, 130 N. Washington St., Greencastle with Revs. Martin Horn and Dan Vannoy officiating. Burial will follow the service in the adjacent church cemetery. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service in the church. Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the Evangelical Lutheran Church, 130 N. Washington St., Greencastle, PA 17225 and will be used for their community food pantry.
