Carole L. (Walck) Gelsinger

Greencastle

Carole L. Gelsinger, 80, of Greencastle, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday morning December 9, 2022 at her home.  Born October 31, 1942 in Greencastle, she was a daughter of the late Kenneth and Madalyn Gilbert Walck.  As a teenager she worked at the Cubby Hole on the square in Greencastle and then early in her working years she was employed at the former Stanley Company in Chambersburg. She later worked as a babysitter and then was employed at Kline’s Grocery.  She retired in 2020 after 37 years at the Sunnyway Diner and Deli where she will be remembered as the best boiled beef pot pie and spinach with bacon dressing cook.  She was a member of the Harry D. Ziegler Post 6319 VFW Ladies Auxiliary and her hobbies included reading, knitting, Word Search books, Macramé, and crafting.  Her husband, Gerald H. “Sonny” Gelsinger, whom she married September 7, 1957, preceded her in death on August 19, 2006.

She is survived by five children, Dodie (Doretta) Witter and husband Donald of St. Thomas, Robert E. Gelsinger and wife Deanna of Waynesboro, Kendra Koons and husband Matthew of Greencastle, Larry L. Gelsinger and wife Tawnya of Greencastle, and Gary L. Gelsinger and wife Jennifer of Mercersburg; seven grandchildren, Scott Gelsinger, Dustin Starliper, Devin Starliper, Brady Gelsinger, Joseph Koons, Kaitlynn Gelsinger, and Jarrett Gelsinger; and seven great-grandchildren, Trey Starliper, Journey Baker, Dillon Starliper, Emma Gelsinger, Hailey Starliper, Ryder Schroyer, and Easton Gelsinger.  She is also survived by two sisters, Sally Bishop (the late Rodney) of State Line, PA and Mary Harsh and husband Marvin of Williamsport, MD; and her sister-in-law, Debbie Walck of Chambersburg.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Lester G. Walck; and two great-granddaughters, Gracelyn M. and Nevaeh M. Gelsinger.

Services and interment will be private.
