Carol O. Beard

Carol O. Beard, age 87, of Chambersburg, PA passed away on Monday, January 15, 2024, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born September 11, 1936, in Hagerstown Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Charles Edward and Clara May (Bingaman) Smith.

Carol married her husband June 2, 1953. She worked as an assembler at Corning Glass for 30 years, retiring in 1990. She enjoyed going to flea markets, auctions, public sales, trips to Florida, traveling, and camping.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Lester W. Beard; three children, Debra A. Thomas of Chambersburg, PA, Susan K. Thomas of Chambersburg, PA and James L. Beard (Tammie) of Chambersburg, PA; 3 grandchildren David Monninger (Barbara), Jennifer Johnson, and Jay Beard; and 3 great-grandchildren, Tyler, Dylan, and Olyvia.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Charles T. Smith

Graveside services will be private at the Beautiful View Cemetery in State Line, PA. Arrangements are entrusted to the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., Greencastle, PA.
