Calvin John Bartholomew, age 84 of 1049 Shinham Rd. Greencastle, Pa. died at 7:57 P.M. Saturday, September 22, 2007 in his home. He had been in failing health the last several years.
Born September 8, 1923 in Gaskill Twp. Jefferson County, Pa., he was the son of the late Paul and Iva (Keller) Bartholomew.
He worked in the building industry and wood working projects all his life. He retired in 1997 after 16 years of working with his son at the Village Wood Shop in Marion, Pa.
He was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Greencastle. Mr. Bartolomew was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
He and his wife, Louella M. (Sentz) Bartholomew were married in 1947 in Littlestown, Pa. He enjoyed wood working and fishing.
Surviving family in addition to his wife are:
Two daughters, Diann M. Myers and Nancy L. Snyder, both of Greencastle, Pa.
One son, Don C. Bartholomew of Chambersburg, Pa.
Three half-sisters, Betty Guy of Dayton, Pa., Marjorie Pulka and Edna Francis, both of Jacksonville, Florida.
Several nephews, nieces and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Friday September 28 at 2:00 P.M. from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle, Pa. with Rev. Glen A. Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6 - 8 P.M. Memorial contributions may be given in his memory to the Evangelical Lutheran Church 130 North Washington St. Greencastle, Pa. 17225 or the Calvary Bible Church 3845 Buchanan Trail West Greencastle, Pa. 17225.
