Bonnie (Harmon) Nolen

June 15, 1953 — November 22, 2014

Bonnie Harmon Nolen, age 61 of Lemasters, PA, went to be with the Lord unexpectedly at her home on Saturday, November 22,  2014.
Born June 15, 1953 in Chambersburg, PA, she was the daughter of H. Pauline Anderson Harmon  of Lemasters and the late Ralph E Harmon.  She was a 1971 graduate of the James Buchanan High school.
She was a member of Antrim Brethren in Christ Church near Chambersburg.
She retired from the Social Security Office in Chambersburg with over 30 years of service, but continued to work part time after her retirement until the time of her passing.  She was also Church Secretary for the St Paul’s UCC in Lemasters for a number of years in the 1970’s.
Bonnie is survived by her husband, Kenneth Nolen whom she married on Sept 29th, 1973, and one son, Douglas Nolen of Lemasters.  Also surviving is one sister Sheree Smith and husband Rex, of Mercersburg, two brothers, Richard Harmon and wife Theresa, of Mercersburg, Roger Harmon and wife Lisa of Lemasters.  She was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Grace Harmon and Linda K. Harmon Heckman, (husband Mike Heckman) of Mercersburg.
Bonnie was an avid horsewoman and loved all animals.  She owned horses her entire life and she rode in many horseshows, parades, and trail rides when she was younger.  She was a member of the Fort Loudon Saddle club in which she held various officer positions.  She was also member of the Chambersburg 4H Saddle club in the 1970s.
Bonnie loved children and family and often hosted children over weekends and holidays.  Bonnie, Ken and Douglas entertained the local children and community by putting up elaborate indoor and outdoor Christmas displays that were widely known throughout the area.  She will be greatly missed by all.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, November 26th at Antrim Brethren In Christ Church 24 Kauffman Rd. East Chambersburg, PA with the Reverend Harold Yeager officiating.
There will be a viewing from 6:00-9:00 PM Tuesday evening at the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle, PA  and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in the Spring Grove Cemetery in Lemasters, PA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions can be made to either the APEA Animal Rescue, 19 Loudon Rd, Mercersburg, PA 17236 or the Antietam Humane Society, 8513 Lyons Rd, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.zimmermanfh.com
