Beulah G. (Martin) Cordell

Beulah G. (Martin) Cordell Beulah Genevieve (Martin) Cordell, age 85, of Chambersburg PA died unexpectedly at 8:12 PMTuesday, December 24, 2013 in the emergency room of the Waynesboro Hospital. Born January 8, 1928 in Hagerstown, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Lula (Holsinger) Martin. She married Rev. Merle G. Cordell on May 17, 1947.

She was a busy homemaker and had owned Beulah M. Cordell Ceramics. Beulah was an active member of the Marion Mennonite Church. She was an avid gardener having many beautiful seasonal flower gardens around her home. She enjoyed embroidering quilt tops, and traveling extensively with her husband in the United States and abroad. Beulah was active in the Group 14 Farm Women, helped to organize the Country Day at Menno Haven of Chambersburg and served with the Cumberland Valley Relief Center of Chambersburg.

Surviving family in addition to her husband are two daughters, Doris E. Lehman of Hagerstown, Ruby M. Gontz and husband Delbert of Chambersburg; two sons, David E. Cordell and wife Patricia of Fayetteville, PA, Richard. M. Cordell and wife Sandra of Chambersburg; five grandchildren, Nicole Lehman Muther and husband Erik, Jenny Gontz, Jared Gontz, Tara Castellar and husband Jesse, Ashlea Lowe and husband Gregory; four great-grandchildren, Simon Muther, Tobias Muther, Brycen Castellar, Sophia Castellar; two sisters, Elsie Shank of Chambersburg, Miriam Timmons of Greencastle; two brothers Thurman Martin of Chambersburg, Nathan Martin of Kentucky; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers Glenn Martin and Leonard Martin, and also by an infant brother.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 29, at 2:00 PM, from the Marion Mennonite Church 4365 Molly Pitcher Hwy. Chambersburg with Revs. Darrel Baer, Blaine and Connie Detwiler and Carl Kniss officiating. Burial will be in the adjacent church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Marion Mennonite Church on Saturday from 2- 4 PM and 6 – 8 PM and at the church one hour before the service on Sunday. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Cumberland Valley Relief Center, 4225 Molly Pitcher Hwy South, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Arrangements are being handled by Harold M.
