Beulah K. (Fitz) Barnes, age 87 of Warm Spring Road Greencastle, PA died at 2:15 PM Thursday, February 5, 2015 at ManorCare Health Services of Chambersburg.
Born October 27, 1927 in Antrim Twp. Franklin County, PA, she was the daughter of the late William and Elsie (Gift) Fitz. She married Paul J. Barnes on June 3, 1950.
She had retired from the Landis Tool Co. of Waynesboro and had also worked at the former Stanley Co. in Chambersburg.
Beulah was a member of the St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church near Upton, PA and was an active member of the church women’s group (WELCA). She was also a member of the Farm Women’s Group 6.
Beulah was a graduate of the former St. Thomas High School.
Surviving family in addition to her husband are two sons Geoffrey L. Barnes and wife Mary Ann of Hagerstown and James E. Barnes and wife Joyce of Greencastle, one grandson Dirk Brumbaugh, three great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters Betty M. Statler and Margaret Goetz and one brother Roy Fitz.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 9 at 10:30 AM from the St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church 8835 Lemar Rd. Greencastle with Rev. Alan R. Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle and at the church one hour before the service on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in her memory to the St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church 8835 Lemar Rd. Greencastle, PA 17225.
