Betty "Betsy" Lea (Goetz) Fisher

Betty “Betsy” Lea Fisher, age 84, of Greencastle, PA passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at her home with her family by her side. Born in Greencastle, PA, she was the daughter of the late G. Marvin and Margaret Fitz Goetz.

Ms. Fisher was a 1957 graduate of Greencastle-Antrim Senior High School. She worked at Corning Glass as a line operator and Quality Assurance Specialist for 35 years, retiring in 1999. Betsy was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Greencastle Sportsman’s Association. She more recently attended Greencastle Four Square Church. She also enjoyed volunteering at the Waynesboro Hospital, where she volunteered over 5000 hours. Betsy cherished taking walks, bus trips, vacationing, and going places with her beloved partner, Jim. She always looked forward to her annual trip to Ocean City, MD, spending time with her grandchildren, cooking and baking.

Surviving are four children, Robert Fisher, Jr. (wife Wanda) of Greencastle, PA, Wally F. Fisher (partner Tracey Westfall) of Waynesboro, PA, Melissa J. Hinkle (fiancé Jerry Goss, Jr.) of Chambersburg, PA, and Melody Dodson (husband Jerry Lewis) of Greencastle, PA;  her beloved partner, Jim Becker; three grandchildren, Michael Fisher, Olivia Dodson, and Peyton Lewis; a great-grandson, Landon Fisher; a brother, George Marvin “Sonny” Goetz (wife Cindy) of Greencastle, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Fisher in 1992 and a sister, Margaret Stouffer.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at 11 AM in the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA, where Pastor Harry Miller will officiate. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, from 6 – 8 PM and one hour prior to the service in the funeral Home. Interment will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice of Chambersburg, 417 Phoenix Dr., Unit A, Chambersburg, PA 17201 or to Greencastle Foursquare Church, 236 Tyrone St., Greencastle, PA 17225.
