Betty M. (Mallery) Shank, age 83 of Greencastle, PA died Saturday, April 26, 2014 at ManorCare Health Services of Chambersburg, PA. She had been critically ill for the last month.

Betty was born in Erie, PA to the late Harold and Marion (Chapman) Mallery. She attended Grove City College where she met her husband of 49 years, C.B. “Lee” Shank. Betty was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She spent many years caring for her husband until his death on July 12, 1999.

Betty was a member of the Greencastle Presbyterian Church where she was an Elder, at one point serving as Clerk of Session. She also was a member of the Greencastle-Antrim Lioness Club.
Betty was very fond of raising her Great Dane dogs and as she got older had to downsize to Schnauzers. She and Lee also enjoyed many happy years vacationing at their home in White Lake, NC. In later years Betty was an avid reader and enjoyed watching golf and college football, especially Penn State.

Surviving family are two sons, the Rev. Douglas H. Shank and wife Linda of Grand Forks, ND and Jeffrey B. Shank and wife Deb of Greencastle, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Louise Strickland of Bemus Point, NY and her step-mother June Strickland of Lakewood, NY

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 1 at 11:00 AM from the Greencastle Presbyterian Church 57 West Baltimore St. Greencastle with the Rev. Doug Beltzner officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. There will be no public viewing but the family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service on Thursday.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in her memory to the Greencastle Presbyterian Church 57 West Baltimore St. Greencastle, PA 17225 or to the Greencastle- Antrim Education Foundation PO Box 623 Greencastle, PA 17225.
