Betty Lee (Thomas) Minnich, age 74 of West Ave. Greencastle, PA died at 10:04 PM Friday, June 5, 2015 in the Hershey Medical Center following a brief illness.
Born April 12, 1941 in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Hazel (Turner) Thomas Binkley. Betty married Johne F. Minnich on January 26, 1957. He died on October 2, 1998.
Betty was a homemaker and a member of the St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church of Greencastle. She was a member and past officer of the Harry D. Zeigler V.F.W. Post #6319 Ladies Auxiliary of Greencastle. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking and being with her family and grandchildren.
Surviving family are one son David F. Minnich, three daughters, Cheri Minnich and partner Gary Alloway of McConnellsburg, PA, Maria Wagner and husband Robert of Mercersburg, PA, Michelle Fenton and husband Gordon of Union, OH, six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, two brothers, John “Bill” Thomas of Greencastle, Robert Thomas of Waynesboro and her companion Joseph “Joe” Fignar of Greencastle.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister Cornelia Lindsay and a brother Edward Thomas.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday June 11 at 10:00 AM from St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church 385 S. Ridge Ave. Greencastle with Rev. Joseph L. Stahura celebrant. Burial will be in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle and where the Greencastle V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary will hold a memorial service at 7:30 PM .
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her memory can be made to the Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute P.O Box 852 Hershey, PA 17033. Online condolences can be expressed at www.zimmermanfh.com.
