Betty Marie (Hawbaker) Miller

Betty Marie Hawbaker Miller, age 87, of Chambersburg, PA and formerly of Greencastle, PA passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born in Lemasters, PA on January 12, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Brechbill and Mary Ethel Brindle Hawbaker.

Mrs. Miller was a 1955 graduate of the James Buchanan High School and a 1956 graduate of the former Chambersburg Business School. Betty worked for 36 years in the Alumni office of The Mercersburg Academy, retiring in 1992. She was involved in the ministries of Camp Eder and Camp Joy El, She volunteered for a number of years at the American Cancer Society, and was an active member of Brandt’s Church in St. Thomas, where she served as a church secretary for a number of years. Betty enjoyed travel, knitting, and spending time with family and friends. Betty will be greatly missed.

Surviving is a brother, Eugene Hawbaker (wife Mary) of Lemasters, PA and 10 nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn C. Miller on April 25, 2021, and three siblings, J. Harold Hawbaker, Dorothy Grove, and Raymond Hawbaker.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 10:30 AM in Brandt’s Church, 8003 Brandt’s Church Rd., St. Thomas, PA 17252, where Pastor Roger Myers will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the above church and address. Interment will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the above church and address. Arrangements are entrusted to the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., Greencastle, PA.
