Betty Louise Lawrence, age 84 a resident of Heritage Hills Retirement Home, Greencastle, PA died at 12:10 A.M. on Monday, March 29, 2010 in the Waynesboro Hospital.
Born July 5, 1925 in Hillsdale, PA, she was the daughter of the late Ollie Jay and Cora Ethel (Longnecker) Long.
She and her husband, Ralph W. Lawrence were married on June 28, 1947 in Pittsburgh, PA. He died on June 6, 2000.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Lawrence was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greencastle. She attended the Greencastle Senior Center and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. In her earlier years she enjoyed bowling, playing bingo, crocheting and was a Brownie leader.
Surviving family are two daughters, Bonnie J. Hade and Barbara L. Gayman both of Greencastle; son, Brian M. Lawrence of Baltimore, MD; two brothers, Jay E. Long and Ronald J. Long; sister, Sandra L. Reech; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Lucille Vegely and a great-grandson, Brody Gayman.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 1, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle with Rev. Martin H. Horn officiating. Burial will be in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
