Betty J. Elliott

Betty J. Elliott, 94, of Greencastle, PA, passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2024 at Mercy House of Chambersburg. Born October 21, 1930 in Waynesboro, PA, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Ellen Barnes Starliper. Her beloved husband, Richard Elliott, preceded her in death in 2000.

Betty was employed at the Waynesboro Knitting Mill and Fresh Express in Greencastle until her retirement. She was a member of Greencastle Church of God. Betty enjoyed listening to Christian music, antiquing, going to yard sales, riding motorcycle, and rooting for Jeff Gordon while watching NASCAR. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she loved spending time with her family and her poodles, Gidget and Chrissy.

Betty is survived by her son, Thomas Elliott (Debra) of Greencastle; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Elliott of The Villages, FL; five grandchildren, Brandon Elliott (Chastity) of Chambersburg, Jessica Souviron (Jonathan) of Summerfield, FL, Ryan Sheppard (Jade) of Castleberry, FL, Brandi Lewis (Sam) of SD, and Jennifer Shelton (Brett) of St. Thomas; and ten great grandchildren, Abigail, Jason, Gideon, Watson, Zachary, Miranda, Issac, Amaya, Jordan and Xander. Aside from her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by her son, Bobbie Elliott; two brothers, Glen Starliper and Raymond “Buddy” Starliper; and two sisters, Patt Bupp and Annie Suders.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA 17225. Rev. Floyd Myers will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Browns Mill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
