Bertha Naomi Burkholder, age 101 a resident of the Mennonite Home Maugansville, MD. died at 12:35 P.M. Friday February 25, 2011 in the home.
Born December 23, 1909 in Letterkenny Twp. Franklin County, PA., she was the daughter of the late Henry S. and Mary G. (Horst) Burkholder.
She did housekeeping work and was a longtime member of Millers Mennonite Church near Leitersburg and was currently a member of Paradise Mennonite Church Hagerstown.
Surviving family are one sister Edith Burkholder, resident of the Mennonite Home of Maugansville, one brother John Eber Burkholder, Menno Haven, Chambersburg and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers Edgar Burkholder and Norman Burkholder, two sisters Ada Strite Martin and Anna Burkholder.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday March 1 at 10:00 A.M. from the Millers Mennonite Church near Leitersburg with the Paradise Mennonite Church Ministry officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery. A viewing will be held at the Paradise Mennonite Church Hagerstown on Monday evening from 6 - 8 P.M. and one hour before the service on Tuesday at Millers Mennonite Church. The family requests that flowers be omitted. Arrangements were handled by the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home of Greencastle.
