Bernice M. Zeger
Bernice M. (Myers) Zeger, age 95 a resident of the Penn Hall Nursing Center in Chambersburg and formerly of Greencastle died at 1:00 P.M. Friday, October 12, 2012 in the nursing center. She had moved to Penn Hall in 2000.
Born September 15, 1917 in Mercersburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Martha (Stenger) Myers. She married Paul W. Zeger on April 29, 1938 in Mercersburg. He died on August 19, 1970.
Bernice worked as a special education assistant with the Franklin County Special Education Center in Chambersburg retiring in 1989.
She was a member of the St. Stephen''s Lutheran Church of Upton, PA. She also had been a member of the Greencastle Senior Women''s Club, Greencastle-Antrim Women''s Fellowship, Greencastle-Antrim Loyal Daughters and Order of Eastern Star.
Surviving family are one daughter Suzanne (husband Dennis) Kershner, Woodstock, MD, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter Judith Leyrer in 1999 and one brother Albert Myers.
A graveside funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family in Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle with the Rev. Alan R. Wilson officiating. There will be no public viewing or visitation. A memorial service will be held on Monday November 5 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of the Penn Hall Retirement Community of 1425 Philadelphia Ave. Chambersburg. Arrangements were handled by the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home.
