Bernadine (Pat) Shinham, age 89, of 216 Horizon Dr. State College, Pa. and formerly of Greencastle, PA, passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at the Fairways at Brookline in State College PA.
Born May 27, 1921 in Plymouth, PA., she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (O''Rourke) Finnegan. She was a graduate of The Scotland School for Veterans Children in 1940.
On June, 13 1942 she married John W. "Bill" Shinham in Corpus Christi Church in Chambersburg, PA. She was retired from the Stanley Company in Chambersburg. She was an auxiliary member of the Rescue Hose Company in Greencastle. She was one of the founders and former organist for St. Mark the Evangelist Church in Greencastle.
In addition to her beloved husband of 68 years, she is survived by her son, John "Larry" Shinham and his wife Sandy of State College, her daughter Sister Kaye Shinham, SSJ of Wilmington DE; two grandchildren J. Christopher Shinham and Lisa (Wife of John) Shenk, both of State College; five great-granddaughters; two sisters in law, Frances "Betty" Kerchner of Greencastle and Edna Finnegan of Wilkes-Barre; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four sisters Anna, Mary, Catherine, Rita, and four brothers, John, Francis, Eugene, and Edward.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday August 16 at 11:00 A.M. from the St. Mark the Evangelist Church 385 S. Ridge Ave. Greencastle with Rev. Joseph L. Stahura officiating. Burial will be in the Corpus Christi Church Cemetery in Chambersburg, Pa. A viewing will be held on Sunday afternoon from 2 - 4 P.M. at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with the rosary to be recited at 3:30 P.M. Memorial contributions may be given in her memory to the St. Mark the Evangelist Church, P.O. Box 218, 385 S.
