Arthur R. Martin

Arthur Roy Martin, age 84, a resident of Menno Haven in Chambersburg and formerly of Greencastle, PA, went to his Heavenly Home on Monday afternoon February 2, 2015 at Menno Haven with his family close by.
Born July 25, 1930 in Maugansville, Maryland, he was the son of the late Laban H. and Clara E. (Risser) Martin.
Arthur was a member of the Salem Ridge Mennonite Community Church near Greencastle. He was the developer and builder of Greenview Acres residential development south of Greencastle. Later, he had a long career as a truck driver. In his retirement he volunteered at Booksavers, World Treasurers, Mennonite Disaster Services programs and other Mennonite outreach programs.
Surviving family include his wife of 64 years Elizabeth (Horst) Martin of Menno Haven, two sons, Donald Martin and wife Jo-An of Hagerstown, Dean Martin and wife Raedella of McConnellsburg, PA, daughter-in-law Wilma Martin of Greencastle, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Michael A. Martin in 2006, four sisters, Evelyn Martin, Leona Eby, Gladys Myers and Martha Horst.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 6 at 10:30 AM at the Salem Ridge Mennonite Community Church, 441 Pensinger Rd. Greencastle with Pastors Brian Emery and Joe Martin officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery. There will be a viewing at the church on Friday from 9:30 – 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given in his memory to Mennonite Disaster Services 583 Airport Rd. Lititz, PA 17543.
