Arlene P. "Tootie" Bain
Arlene P. "Tootie" Bain, age 61 of Richmond Road Fort Loudon, PA died at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 18, 2013 in the Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, MD. She had been critically ill following surgery at Mercy Hospital in Baltimore at the end of July.
Born March 3, 1952 in Chambersburg, PA she was the daughter of Donald P. Dagenhart of Waynesboro and the late Georgia R. (Hull) Dagenhart.
She married Reginald "Reggie" Bain on December 3, 1971 in Upton, PA.
Arlene was a homemaker and last worked as a shoe sales clerk at ELM Shoes in Greencastle for 28 years. She also had worked as a waitress at the former Geor-Don''s Restaurant in Greencastle.
She was a 1970 graduate of Greencastle-Antrim High School. Arlene attended the Antrim Brethren In Christ Church south of Chambersburg where she belonged to the Ambassadors Sunday School Class. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School in her earlier life, reading her Bible and other books, being with family and friends, especially her grandson Tanner.
Surviving family in addition to her husband of 41 years are two sons Matthew J. Bain (Christine Mickey) both of Greencastle, Andrew D. Bain and wife Amy, of Mercersburg, one grandson Tanner Bain of Greencastle, two sisters, Linda A. Fox and husband Roy of Greencastle, Glenda "Punch" Cooper and husband Gerald Jr. of Greencastle and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday September 24 at 1:00 P.M. from the Antrim Brethren In Christ Church 24 East Kauffman Rd. Chambersburg with Rev. Ky R. Searcy officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. The family will receive friends at the Antrim Brethren In Christ Church on Monday from 4 - 8 P.M. and at the church one hour before the service on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given for her grandson Tanner Bain''s education fund established at Corning Credit Union 677 South Antrim Way Greencastle, PA 17225.
