Anna R. Snoke, age 79 a resident of Providence Place of Chambersburg, Pa. the past year and formerly of Greencastle, Pa. died at 11:11 P.M. Friday, February 6, 2009 in Providence Place. She had been in declining health the past several months and critically ill the last week,
Born August 11, 1929 in Greencastle, Pa. she was the daughter of the late Siebert and Lucy J. (Deck) Myers.
She worked for the late John S. Oaks in his local hardware store. She then purchased the Oaks Hardware Store on Center Square Greencastle and operated it for a number of years before retiring in 1990.
Mrs. Snoke was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Greencastle and a member of the Greencastle Lioness Club. She also was a life member of the Rescue Hose Co. #1 and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Harry D. Zeigler V.F.W. Post #6319, both of Greencastle.
She enjoyed making ceramics, gardening, hunting mushrooms, collecting lucky beans and being with her family.
She and her husband, Harold E. Snoke were married August 8, 1946 in Dillon, S.C.
Surviving family in addition her husband of 62 years are daughters, Deborah A. Gearhart (Mrs. William) Leidig and Pamela A. (Mrs. Terry) Carr, both of Greencastle, Pa., one son, Richard E. (Husband of Kristi Lynn) Snoke, Chattanooga, Tennessee, sisters, Doris Barnhart, Greencastle, Pa, and Jane Beaver, Waynesboro, Pa. , brother Donald Myers, Greencastle, Pa., six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister Isabelle Cunningham and brothers George Myers, Robert Myers and Ray Myers.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday February 11 at 11:00 A.M. from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Pastor Stacy Crawford officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6 - 8 P.M.
