Anna V. (Rice) Myers, age 91 of 14578 Hollowell Church Rd. Waynesboro, Pa. died at 7:15 A.M. Wednesday, December 24, 2008 in the Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown, Md.
Born December 5, 1917 in Zullinger, Pa. she was the daughter of the late Willis and Ivy (Hartman) Rice.
She was the homemaker on her family farm and in her earlier years she had worked at the former Stanley Co. of Chambersburg, taught school at Hollowell School and Shady Grove School and also worked at Avalon Manor of Hagerstown. Mrs. Myers was a 1936 graduate of the former Washington Twp. School. She was a member of the Waynesboro Church Of The Brethren and also taught Sunday School at several other local churches.
Anna, "Mimi" was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and was an avid cook and enjoyed quilting, sewing and crocheting. She had lived on the family farm since 1949.
She and her husband, Daniel M. Myers were married January 6, 1940 in Zullinger. He died on May17, 1991.
Surviving family are: Two daughters, Ferne L. (Wife of Wayne) Murray, Shady Grove, Pa. and Dana L. Myers of Waynesboro, Pa. One son, Gareth L. (Husband of Tinna) Myers, Waynesboro, Pa. Four sisters, Lois Sollenberger and Dorothy Angle, both of Chambersburg, Pa. and Thelma Plum and Edna Rice, both of Waynesboro, Pa. Three Brothers, Fred Rice and Burnell Rice, both of Chambersburg and Paul Rice of Elizabethtown, Pa. Five Grandchildren, A''Lynn (Wife of Michael) Hartle, Boiling Springs, Pa., Briette (Wife of Richard) Baxter, Ryan Myers, Devon Myers and Carly Myers, all of Waynesboro, Pa. Two Great-grandchildren, Cassidy and Wesley Hartle. She was preceded in death by a sister Gladys Esh and a brother Hartman Rice.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday December 30 at 11:00 A.M. from the Waynesboro Church Of The Brethren 117 S. Church St. Waynesboro with Revs. C. Albert Guyer and Lee Nunemaker officiating. Burial will be in the Antietam (Price''s) Cemetery near Waynesboro. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 7 - 9 P.M. at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle and at the church one hour before the service on Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be given in her memory to the John Marsh Cancer Center Suite 129 Robinwood Medical Center 11110 Medical Campus Rd. Hagerstown, Md. 21742.
