Anna E. Hess
Anna Elizabeth (Wenger) Hess, age 91 formerly of Mercersburg, passed away Wednesday afternoon July 16, 2014 in the nursing unit of Menno Haven, Chambersburg, PA.
Born September 24, 1922 in Lurgan Township, Franklin County, PA, she was the daughter of the late Elmer M. and Fannie H. (Bricker) Wenger. Her late husband, Harold L. Hess died December 2, 1998 after 52 years of marriage.
Most of her adult life she helped her husband on the farm. Then she worked for the Tuscarora School District in the cafeteria for 15 years before retiring. Anna was a member of the Montgomery Brethren In Christ Church near Mercersburg. She loved gardening, cooking, sewing, crafts and puzzles.
Surviving family are one daughter, Fern Miller and husband Richard S., two sons, Dean L. Hess and wife Jean of Greencastle, Alan C. Hess of Mercersburg, one brother Arthur B. Wenger of Manheim, PA, four grandchildren Trudy (Miller) Keefer and husband Chad, Rodney L. Miller, Eric Hess and wife Bree, Brandon Hess and five great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son Lane Hess and two brothers, Ezra Wenger and Henry Wenger.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday morning July 22 at 10:00 AM from the Montgomery Brethren In Christ Church 6727 Montgomery Church Rd. Mercersburg, PA with Rev. Raymond Martin officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6 – 8 PM at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle and at the church one hour before the service on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be given in her memory to the Benevolent Care Fund of Menno Haven 2075 Scotland Ave. Chambersburg, PA 17201 or to the Montgomery Brethren In Christ Church 6727 Montgomery Church Rd.
