Anna C. Helfrick

Anna C. Helfrick age 91, of Marion, PA went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Quincy Village Nursing Home. Born February 4, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Charles Ambrose Myers and Martha Agnes Gayman Myers.

Mrs. Helfrick was a homemaker helping on the family farm and raising eight children until 1974, when she went to work for the former Corning Glass Works in Greencastle, retiring in 1996 after 22 years. She was a former member of Montgomery Brethren in Christ Church, Mercersburg, PA and for the last thirty years attended Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Church in Cearfoss, MD. She loved the Lord, spending time with her family, and gardening. Mrs. Helfrick also enjoyed baking, canning, doing things for her family, and preparing goods for sale at her annual yard sale. She also loved to make candy for Easter and Christmas for the children and grandchildren, and occasionally offer for sale.

Surviving are seven children, Doyle L. Helfrick (wife Terry) of Waynesboro, Duane E. Helfrick of Branchville, SC, Dale E. Helfrick (wife Carol) of Mercersburg, Kay M. Bard (husband Roger) of Fayetteville, Delbert R. Helfrick of Marion, Dallas J. Helfrick (wife Rebekah) of Mercersburg, and Kimberly A. Hoffman (husband Douglas) of Penns Creek, PA; a son in law, Dave Oberholzer of Greencastle; 15 grandchildren, Amanda Hahn (husband Jeff) of Fayetteville, Leslie Shreve (husband Seth) of Boiling Springs, PA, Jared Helfrick of Mercersburg, Brenton Helfrick (wife Christina) of Mt. Joy, PA, Alicia Helfrick of Red Bluff, CA, Kristen Oberholzer Shank of Greencastle, Derek Oberholzer of Camp Hill, PA, Justin Bard (wife Katie) of Fayetteville, Daryl Helfrick (wife Brooke) of Ft. Loudon, Andrea Hadik (husband Joshua), of Kosrae Federated States of Micronesia, Michelle Young (husband David), of Topeka, KS, Brandon Hoffman (wife Janae), of Rome, NY, Regina Hoffman of Hobe Sound, FL, and Ryan, and Jonathan Hoffman, of Penns Creek; 13 great-grandchildren; five siblings, Naomi Strite of Townville, PA, Dorcas Gearhart (husband Dean) of Waynesboro, Esther Beury (husband Ron) of Fayetteville, Glenn Myers (wife Verma) of Greencastle, and Eunice Johnson (husband Park) of Cape Canaveral, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Asa Helfrick in 1995, a daughter, Karen E. Oberholzer in 2018, a grandson, Joshua Bard in 1991 and five siblings, Evelyn Hartman, Mildred Yoder, Charles Myers, Jr., Melvin Myers, and Grace Kennedy.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 11 AM at Montgomery Brethren in Christ Church, 6727 Montgomery Church Rd., Mercersburg, PA 17236, where Pastor Karl Carpenter will officiate. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 28, 2025, from 6-8 PM in the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., Greencastle, PA and on Saturday at the above church and address from 10 – 11 AM, with funeral service at 11:00. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
