Andrew G. "Andy" Gipe, age 87 of Buchanan Trail East, Shady Grove, PA, died at 7:35 A.M. on Saturday, August 29, 2009 in his home.
Born September 11, 1921 in Letterkenny Twp., Franklin County, PA, he was the son of the late Andrew G. and Anna (Ebersole) Gipe.
He and his wife, Gladys B. (Boone) Gipe were married January 1, 1944 in Franklin County, VA.
He was a member of the Old German Baptist Brethren Church at Browns Mill.
Mr. Gipe was the owner/operator of Gipe''s Garage in Shady Grove for over 57 years.
Surviving are family in addition to his wife are two sons, Ronald G. (husband of Arlene M.) Gipe of Chambersburg, PA, Donald B. (husband of Sue P.) Gipe of Covington, OH; one sister, Thelma Harshman of Waynesboro, PA; one brother, Raymond Gipe of Chambersburg, PA; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother Elwood Gipe.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. from the Browns Mill Meeting House, Grindstone Hill Rd., Chambersburg, PA with the Home Brethren assisted by Elder Donald Hess officiating. Burial will be in the Browns Mill Cemetery, Kauffman, PA. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2-4 P.M. & 6-8 P.M. at the Browns Mill Meeting House. The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial contributions may be given in his memory to the Lutheran Home Care And Hospice, 2700 Luther Dr., Chambersburg, PA 17202. Arrangements are being handled by the Harold M. Zimmerman & Son Funeral Home, Greencastle.
