Amos G. Martin

Amos Garling Martin, 69, of Frederick, MD, passed away on January 30, 2025, at North Hampton Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Frederick, MD. Born April 12, 1955, in Uniontown, PA, he was the son of the late Rev. William H. and Catherine Louise Garling Martin.

Amos was a 1973 graduate of Brownsville Area High School. He was a custom home builder by trade and transitioned into a career in automotive sales. He enjoyed western movies, cooking, golf, Pittsburgh Steelers football, sharing his faith and spending time with his family. In his younger years, Amos served as a Deacon at the Third Presbyterian Church in Uniontown, PA. Amos was most recently a member of the Walkersville Community Church which is part of the Brethren In Christ US Church.

He is survived by four sons, Amos R. Martin (Nikki) of Frederick, MD, William Martin (Wendy) of Frederick MD, Douglas Martin (Dana) of Frederick, MD, and Blake Martin of Frederick, MD; grandchildren, Shyra Martin, London Martin, Cameron Martin, Eliana Martin and Berkeley Martin; siblings Nathan G. Martin (Verna) of Uniontown, PA, and David Martin (Elizabeth) of Greencastle, PA. He was previously married to Joyce Martin-Addis, the mother of his four children. Aside from his parents, Amos was preceded in death by his sister Ruth Crago. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 7, 2025, at the Montgomery Brethren In Christ Church, 6727 Montgomery Church Rd., Mercersburg, PA 17236. Rev. Tim Fisher will officiate. Interment will follow the service in the adjoining church cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 AM on Friday at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Greencastle, PA.
