Amos R. Carbaugh Sr.

Amos Robert Carbaugh Sr., age 69 of Mercersburg, PA died at 9:57 PM on Sunday, October 16, 2016 in the Chambersburg Hospital following a brief illness.

Born June 18, 1947 in Waynesboro, PA, he was the son of the late Brady and Helen (Clever) Carbaugh. He married his wife Helen M. (Rouzer) Carbaugh on August 30, 1969.

Amos worked as a finish carpenter for over 40 years with Foremost Industries formerly of Greencastle. He was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Amos graduated in 1965 from the Greencastle-Antrim High School.

He was a member of the Montgomery Brethren In Christ Church near Mercersburg. His hobbies and interests included gardening, hunting and woodworking.

Surviving family in addition to his wife of 47 years are two sons, Amos Carbaugh Jr. and wife Joeylee of St. Thomas, PA, Michael Carbaugh and wife Melissa of Mercersburg, one daughter, Amy Stine and husband Matthew of Mercersburg, one sister, Carolyn Shatzer of Chambersburg, two brothers, Brady Carbaugh Jr. and Dennis Carbaugh, both of Greencastle and five grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Amos was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday October 22 at 11:00 AM at the Montgomery Brethren In Christ Church 6727 Montgomery Church Rd. Mercersburg with Pastor Japheth Nell officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the Chambersburg V.F.W. Post #1599 Honor Guard will be in the adjoining church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday at the church from 9:30 – 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in his memory to the Montgomery Brethren In Christ Church 6727 Montgomery Church Rd. Mercersburg, PA 17236. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.zimmermanfh.com. Arrangements were handled by the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home of Greencastle.
