Alice Martin Brumbaugh died on September 21, 2022, at Spiritrust Luther Ridge Nursing Center in Chambersburg, PA. Born May 25, 1926, in Chambersburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Alexander Neill Brumbaugh and Elisabeth Brendle Brumbaugh of Greencastle, PA.
Ms. Brumbaugh retired as Associate Professor Emerita of Sociology, Wilson College, Chambersburg, PA in 1989. A graduate of Greencastle-Antrim Senior High School, she went on to graduate from what is now Shippensburg University, and the University of Maryland. Upon leaving Maryland, she was appointed Probation Officer in the Circuit Court of Baltimore City, Division of Juvenile Causes. She held teaching positions at Bridgewater College (Virginia) and Lebanon Valley College, as well as at Wilson during a career of some forty years. When at Wilson, she received the Lindback Foundation Award for Distinguished Teaching.
Ms. Brumbaugh was the last of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved brother, Thomas Brendle Brumbaugh, on December 18, 2011. Private internment to be convened at a later date by Dr. Raymond Kemp Anderson Emeritus Professor of Religious Studies at Wilson College will be in the family plot in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle,PA. Arrangements are entrusted to the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., Greencastle, PA.
